From Discord to Harmony:
              Prayer  of Confusion

      In this space, I hope to enter a new discussion every few days about the process of becoming in
tune with the Lord. I will include some of my published poems and articles to help explain the point of the
discussion. Since the age of ten, I've wanted God to use me as his instrument, to speak through me to help
others know him better and trust his love. But my spiritual journey has included many difficulties and
hindrances. In the early 1980's, I wrote the following poem. I was in despair at the time, thinking
I'd fallen into Satan's trap by my disobedience and would never be of any use to God again.


Prayer of Confusion

Will somebody tell me how to live?
What is the secret? 
How do I give?
How do I yield my heart?

Will somebody tell me
            who I am?              
Which is the truth 
and which but a sham?
How did deception start?

What are the answers? 
I need them now ...
to questions I can't 
figure out  somehow. 
Am I wise or am I a fool?
Am I loving or am I cruel?
How do I listen, 
And who will speak? 
I feel confused 
and amazingly weak.

LORD, take control of my inner soul.
Where I am lacking, 
Please make me whole.
Search me and make me true.

For you are the One 
Who gave me life.
Tell me the secret, 
thus end my strife.
Teach me to live for you.


As I prayed this prayer, God began to bring me out of my despair and confusion.
The turning point, I believe, was when I asked the Lord to take control of me and my life.  
Since then, he has restored me and brought me back into an intimate loving relationship with him.
As for the "Prayer of Confusion," it has been published in PURPOSE, HiCALL, VISION,
ALIVE FOR YOUNG TEENS, LIVING WITH TEENAGERS, as well as several nonpaying publications.

  An Instrument of Grace is
a person through whom God shows
his love. Anyone who is available
to God, living in tune with him
through faith in Jesus Christ, can
be his instrument of grace.



Definition:
   A Spokesman for God is one
who speaks forth the truths
that are in God's heart. In order
to do this, he or she must be
intimately related to God through
faith in Jesus Christ and continual obedience to him.
